"Kanji ☆ Master" is my Swift Playgroundbook submission for WWDC 2021 Swift Student Challenge
Taking inspiration from my field of study, "Kanji ☆ Master" is a short and educational experience designed to teach the basics of Japanese calligraphy. The Playgroundbook runs on both mac and iPad, the user may interact using either trackpad, mouse, Apple Pencil or their own fingers.
The colour palette is in contrasting red accent with blue tones and a warm off-white for the background.
All the illustrations included in the project are digitally drawn by me.
In the first section of my playground I provided a brief introduction to my project, together with a summary of the stroke order rules. The illustration inside the pager on the right part of the screen provide a visual example for the prose on the left.
After the short tutorial we get to the main part of my project: our calligraphy practice!
The user will practice the 4 main calligraphy rules with 4 different kanji. In the right part it will be possible to trace over the guiding lines and practice. The X button on the top right deletes the drawing.
Tapping the button in the bottom-right, a card with the kanji meaning will be displayed, together with a visual representation with the Kanji's pictographic form and its equivalent emoji 👀
You may have a look at the final project in the following video. Enjoy!
